4/29/13 April 29th Elder David Gurr

 

Hello Family,

This week has been very good. One of the investigators was baptized this week. She is 24 years old and the only member in her family. When she sees me she says Grrrrrr.

 

We are planning on having a baptism this next Friday. We have been teaching an investigator for two weeks and he wants to be baptized. We were teaching him the example of Jesus Christ and how he was baptized.  It was my first time asking anyone in Spanish if he wanted to be baptized and he said yes.

 

We taught him the other day about the word of wisdom and he said yes. We asked him if there was going to be a problem and he said no but it was going to be hard. He told us that he knew cigarettes were bad for him. Besides that he is ready.  The law of chastity was easy because he doesn`t have a girlfriend.  He is 20 years old I think.

 

I don't remember if this was this week or last because time is going so fast, but I asked another investigator in the second lesson to be baptized because he wanted to know in the first lesson about baptism.  He is homeless and he used to be a heavy drinker, but now he has changed his life and he wants to be cleaned from his sins. It is really cool because it reminds me of the district, they had an investigator similar to the situation that I am in. We watch those videos all the time. 

 

There is one more person, we met him as we came home early at night about 9:00 pm.  We should be in our home by 9:00 pm, but we are allowed to be out until 9:30 pm.  He is a 20 year old male from New Jersey and he speaks fluent English. The funny thing is he is our next door neighbor. He said to us something in English and he told us he had this impression to talk to us in English, and he thought we might not know English, but he gave it a shot.  He wants us to talk about the church because he sees us leave the house and not come back till late at night. So he asked us, "Do you have a personal life as well?", and we explained that we are here for 2 years to talk about the Lord. Then we will go back to our normal lives.

 

He said that he was looking for a church to join and we said ok we can do that. We asked do you want it in English or Spanish and he said he is fluent in English so he wants it in English. This is my chance to teach in English. I am excited to be teaching him and we will be teaching him soon.

 

The area in Quezada is interesting, this is the area where you can get some good stuff like food, clothes, and everything. There are a lot of stands here. The people are nice and they always yell, "Elders". The food is sometimes hard to eat. The food I don't like is sopa (soup) like the Mexican soup back home. I might want taco soup when I get home who knows. Things can happen. My taste buds are changing.

 

 

The city gets a black out at least once a week so you will be hearing music all over the city then quietness. It is really interesting because they like American music. I am out of time but thanks for the support, hope you all receive many blessings in your life and I need to learn how to write faster.
